SvarSlet1: According to Rosin what has changed?
Women become the majority of the workface for the first time in the U.S. history, and most managers are now women as well. For every two men who get a college degree, three women will get one.
2: What did Ronald Ericsson create and what were his ideals about men?
He came up with a method to separate the sperm carrying Y chromosome from those carrying X chromosome, thus being able to choose the sex of your baby.
His ideals about men were cowboy-esque: A man riding a horse along the river, no bureaucrats, no lawyers.
3: How is his invention used today?
Way more people want a baby girl, than a boy.
4: Why does Ericsson say: “why wouldn’t you choose a girl?”?
Because boys usually cause way more trouble than a sweet, innocent girl. Ericsson’s 26-year-old granddaughter is a biochemist, and his niece studied civil engineering, while he has to tell his grandsons: “Just don’t screw up and crash your pickup truck and get some girl pregnant and ruin your life.” Women also live longer than men; they do better in the economy, and more of them graduate from college. They go into space and can do exactly the same things men do - sometimes they even do it better.
5: Can you pinpoint any connection to Fight Club?
Because women are apparently becoming so much better than men, at everything, the men have to prove that they’re still real men - by fighting.
In Fight Club, they also live in a society dominated by women.
Answers to the end of men.
SvarSlet1. According to Rosin things changed, more women are out in the men’s world now. Like she says, a manager is more likely to be a woman than a man now a days. She also tells that several women get a collage degree, when two men get one, three women does too. So according to Rosin, women are out in business, working side by side with men.
2. First of all his ideals about men were strong, men was the strong sex according to him. Men could do anything, and be cowboys too. He created a method to separate the X and Y chromosomes in men’s sperm, so you could choose the sex of your unborn child. Most likely he though boys would rise.
3. Today his invention of separating X and Y chromosomes are used to mass produce little baby girls, because now it's the girls era, and the girls time to shine, according to the text.
4. He says that, because it's the girls time to shine, as I said before. As Ericsson says the girls in his family are doing way better than the guy. It's now the girls are rising and not the guys.
5. Yeah I can, the fact that what guys did and use to do, they aren't doing anymore. Like taking care and feed his family, today a woman can get an education, a job and earn her own money and take care of her family and her man. So I think some men have a need to feel manly and feel strong, play with muscles. In fight club they can get in touch with their manly side, and feel like a man, which they can't do in their everyday life now, when they are overrun by women.
1. Rosin believes in stats and figures. She says that the majority of the workforce in the United States is now consistent of female labour, which is something that has never previously taken place in the US to date. She believes that women's "struggle" for equality isn't where it ends; she believes women will keep pushing on until they're on top.
SvarSlet2. Ericsson is an old cowboy, who (quite surprisingly) was the first person to come up with a way to seperate sperm carrying the male-producing Y-chromosome. He's very liberal and believes in the typical male ideals: They're stronger and more powerful than women, although he has come to doubt this belief regarding men and women in education.
3. Today his invention is used in clinics all around the States, but to his surprise, most women come to these clinics asking for a girl rather than a boy. They are also much more forthcoming about this, as they don't even try to hide the truth. They're honest in a sense that almost makes you think of brutality.
4. It's a sign of flaw in Ericsson's previous ways of thinking. It almost seems like he has come to question his previous ideals and beliefs, especially because he gets the feeling that his female family members are doing a lot better in school than their male counterparts.
5. There are a bunch of connections to Fight Club. First of all, one of the quotes from the movie is: "This is a generation raised by women." The article would support this statement, as it seems like more and more women have a bigger influence in their child's life than fathers, although there is one major hole in this: Since the majority of the workforce is now females, it would be males who spent more time with their children, not women.
Also, she calls Ericsson a "stubborn, old goat", which isn't exactly helping the cause in the article. It makes her sound like an ignorant feminist, and she didn't include a single argument against these beliefs in the first two pages that we've read so far. Part of a good and well-written article is to include points of view from all the angles, not just her own. In order to reach a conclusion, you can't cover an area only from your own perspective, which is something she does here.
In Fight Club, the men are distant and not present in their every-day lives. This is the case in the article, too, as she both doesn't mention them a lot, but she also makes it clear that it's the women who choose to have girls, not the couples.

SvarSlet1: According to Rosin what has changed?
Rosin means, that modern society has changed from being dominated bu men to being slightly dominated by women, perhaps because society as it looks today is simply more suited for women.
2: What did Ronald Ericsson create and what were his ideals about men?
Ronald Ericsson created a way of seperating the sperm cells with an X-chromosome from the ones with a Y-chromosome, so that people could choose which sex their baby would get.
Ronald Ericsson believed in freedom, as he liked to live as a cowboy. He believes that every man should be his own boss. This look upon life can be seen as quite masculine, and feminists thougt it was sexist.
3: How is his invention used today?
Actually, it has turned out that parents often prefers to get daughters. The old philosophy where boys were the real deal is now outdated, and people ask more and more for girls.
4: Why does Ericsson say: “why wouldn’t you choose a girl?” ?
Nowadays, women have the same rights as men. Beforehand, boys were preferable, beacuse they were the ones to take over when their fathers were gone. But now, girls can do exactly as they want, and it is no longer important to have a male heir. That is why choosing a girl is just as good a choice as choosing a boy.
5: Can you pinpoint any connection to Fight Club?
Perhaps some men would see this new female society as a threat to their masculinity, and that is basically the whole point in fight club, as the men are no longer sure of who and what they really are.
Parents can choose the sex of their child. The most parents choose to get a girl.

Yes, because nowadays women are now ‘rising star’, they are can now do what men used to do. So by fighting the men are proving that they are still men.

1. According to Rosin what has changed?
SvarSletMen are no longer the majority of the workforce. More and more women graduate from the university.
After Ericssons discovered that you could choose the sex of your child, more and more decide to have a girl, than having a boy. Men are no longer “the boss” but women are, they are taking all the decisions.
2. What did Ronald Ericsson create and what were his ideals about men?
He created the first method for choosing the sex of a child.
“A guy riding on his horse along the river, no bureaucrats, no lawyer.” “He’s the boss”.

4.
SvarSletBecause the girls are doing much better in the society and do everything better than men, according to the text.
-Bjørn
1: First of all the women have become the majority of the workforce in the U.S, and most managers appear to be women as well. They are also more likely to get a college degree than men are. Men are no longer in charge, and women seem to be in charge of the decisions. It's no longer the era of men.
SvarSlet2: He came up with a way to separate the sperm cells carrying the male producing Y chromosome from the sperm cells that carried the X chromosome. This was/is a way to pick the sex of one's child. Ericsson himself wore cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, the typical country man. His prescription for life contained no room for "Mr. Limp Wrist", which meant that he did not tolerate homosexual men. He called the ideal man(the cowboy-like, manly man) "the boss".
3: His is invention is still used in clinics this day today. More and more couples request getting a girl instead of a boy, even though Ericsson's method should be more effective for producing boys. In some clinics the ratio is now 2 to 1 for picking a girl. People are no longer embarrassed about asking for a girl instead of a boy. The man is no longer the boss, the way Ericsson earlier described it. Women think their daughter's will have the bright future, that her grandmothers never had.
4: The times have changed, and so has the society we live in. The era of male dominance and the first born son is over. Ericsson's granddaughter is a biochemist, while his niece studied civil engineering. On the other hand the grandsons slack their way through school. Women think their daughters will have a brighter future than their sons will. According to Ericsson, women do better in the economy and they live longer than men. Women do everything men do, and sometimes they do it better than the men do. So he says "why wouldn't you choose a girl?" because women seem to be doing better, than men, in our modern society.
5:The men that go to Fight Club are a generation raised by women, and that is what is happening in our society as well according to Rosin and Ericsson. Women are taking over, they make all the decisions, and eventually women might leave the men in the dust. The men in Fight Club are proving their masculinity, since they were raised by women. They might see women as a threat to their masculinity, and the men in modern society might also see women as a threat. The point is just that in both Fight Club and this article the women are in control. The women are raising the future generations.

Slet1: According to Rosin what has changed?
SvarSletThe majority of the workforce now consists of women, and most managers are also women. For every two males who get a college degree, three females get a college degree.

“A guy riding on his horse along the river, no bureaucrats, no lawyers.” “He’s the boss.”
3: How is his invention used today?
It is mostly used to be sure a baby becomes a girl.
4: Why does Ericsson say: “why wouldn’t you choose a girl?” ?
Because he thinks women are doing way better than men in life, they live longer, are more successful. He uses his granddaughter as an example, “tall, slender, brighter than hell, with a take-no-prisoners personality” she is a biochemist and works with genetic sequencing.
5: Can you pinpoint any connection to Fight Club?
“What if modern postindustrial society is simply better suited to women?” This could sound like Tyler talking. In the sense that the world is full of men who act like women and have success in their respective businesses. That is why he made fight club, he made it to break free from society and make men real men again, but in some way the men in fight does not fit into the real world, because the real world is made for women.
The old man Ericsson was a “real” man, like Tyler would like to be, but even he, men’s’ last bastion against the ultra progressive women, have surrendered and says that he is going to have a sex-change operation.
1. According to Rosin, women's progress has been cast a struggle for equality.
SvarSlet2. Ronald Ericsson came up with a way to separate sperm. When it comes to his ideals about men, he think about them as more powerful and stronger creations.
3. His invention is used to get more girls than boys, and that is moreover what he found out.

The End of Men” (Sarah)
SvarSlet1: According to Rosin what has changed?
According to Rosin, a lot has changed. Rosin says "most managers are now women", what Rosin is trying to say is; women are getting more powerful and even more powerful than men.
2: What did Ronald Ericsson create and what were his ideals about men?
In the 1970 Ronald Ericsson came up with a way to separate sperm carrying the male-producing Y chromosome from those carrying the X.

He discovered that couples were requesting more girls than boy. Most of the american mothers want a baby girl than a baby boy, so the daughters will have a brighter future, even brighter than their son.
4: Why does Ericsson say: “why wouldn’t you choose a girl?”?
The boys are less responsible than girls. Boys make trouble and they do ridiculous things, like: fighting and going to jail for doing something stupid, while girls are more responsible and they can handle “the big” problems, without getting into trouble.
5: Can you pinpoint any connection to Fight Club?
The boys in the movie are giving up their job to do something ridiculous; they were getting into fights instead of having a job and taking care of their families.
5.
